Children having fun in field on glamping holiday in Devon

About Us

How we started

The Sheaves family has lived at Cuckoo Down Farm since the 1950s.

In 2008 John and Becky Sheaves started offering glamping on their small family farm in beautiful East Devon. Beginning with just two yurts, the farm now has four stunning safari tents, each with its own hot tub. There is also one charming, secluded yurt, also with a hot tub.

John and Becky, together with their long-standing team of ace cleaners and housekeepers, pride themselves on offering beautiful accommodation in a truly gorgeous setting. The spacious glamping tents stand on sturdy larchwood bases in a huge, sunny seven-acre field. There is lots of room to run around and have fun. Each tent stands 30 metres from its neighbours so there is plenty of space to enjoy. On the farm you will find sheep, chickens, ponies and a very friendly collie dog as well as the chance to spot wonderful wild creatures including deer, badgers, owls and lots of butterflies.

Alongside the glamping field, through a secret gateway, is a 150-year old oak wood, three acres in size, which is all yours to explore. Think dens, walks, games and hide-and-seek. Running through the woods is an ankle-deep stream which is perfect for paddling and building dams.
